The uses of tin can be traced back over 5000 years. This silver-colored, shiny metal is very soft and therefore capable of being shaped or bent into extremely thin sheets (think tin foil) or stretched into a thin wire. Tin has good conductivity.
Common uses include electroplating, soldering, producing conductive magnets, producing jewelry and ornaments, corrosion protection and food preservation (tin cans).
